We woke to another beautiful sunrise. I never tire of them! Just on the other side of these homes is the Atlantic Ocean. From our anchorage we could hear the pounding surf all night. The large sphere in the air is a water tank which uses gravity in order to maintain water pressure in the city water system. These are very common in the eastern half of our country, but are unknown in the west.
We saw this boat back in Wrightsville Beach. The tall towers are called "tuna towers" as they are used to get better visibility in the pursuit of fish.
Cruising Note: If you are 7' above the water you can see 3 nmi, but if you are 26' above the water you can see 6 nmi.
The forest gets pretty dense as we near South Carolina.
There is always interesting work being done along the ICW.
More colorful homes as we approach the last major NC city, Southport.
Everyone was out fishing on a Saturday morning at Southport.
Lots of new construction in the Southport to Myrtle Beach area, including some pretty large places like this house.
North Carolina has too many on-the-hour bridges. Here a lot of boats had queued up on both sides of a bridge that finally opened, and away we went. We crossed into South Carolina at 2:27 PM.
